West Yorkshire Tourism Partnership

The West Yorkshire Tourism Partnership plans to invest over £2.5 million pounds to develop the visitor offer across West Yorkshire, over the next three years.

With funding from Yorkshire Forward, the five West Yorkshire Local Authorities are working together to secure and allocate investment to develop the quality of the West Yorkshire tourist offer as well as marketing the area as a must see destination.

The partnership is led by an Executive Board of public and private sector members, all with a wide range of industry expertise. Projects are led by the manager, Liz Tattersley working in conjunction with tourism officers across West Yorkshire. This joint working reduces duplication and improves the coordination of activity.

A number of exciting initiatives are planned to increase the number of visitors to the area, the first being the development of a joint West Yorkshire Conference Desk, promoted under the leading brand of Conference Leeds. This will undoubtedly provide more choice for conference organisers and creates a significant marketing budget and allows us to position West Yorkshire as a leading conference destination both in the UK and overseas.

The partnership is also funding a Yorkshire wide Destination Management System that stores information about the tourism product, services and visitors across the region. This is used to promote your business on a range of local, regional and national tourism websites.

The board are also considering proposals to:
- Launch a new International Sculpture Festival
- Enhance the rural tourism offer
- Improve the group's product and provide coach parking facilities in Bradford and Leeds.
