Visitor Surveys

Visitor surveys can measure visitor satisfaction with various aspects of a trip, including the accommodation, environment, cleanliness and value for money.

They should ideally be carried out annually to provide a year on year performance comparison.

Visitor surveys are also effective tools for analysing market trends, creating customer profiles and identifying market segments.

The results of visitor surveys can be used to:

  • Help plan future marketing initiatives
  • Identify areas of weakness or quality gaps
  • Build a profile of your typical visitor
  • Create mailing lists for promotional material.

For more information on creating customer profiles go to our visitor and consumer profiling page.

Visitor surveys can also form the basis of benchmarking exercises against other similar destinations or attractions. Visit our benchmarking page to find out more.

“This is the first time The Bowes Museum has undertaken such a comprehensive market research project. We are confident the research undertaken by the Yorkshire Tourist Board will be of great benefit in the development of the Marketing Strategy and support the objectives of enhancing the visitor experience and increasing visitor numbers over the next three years."  Rachel Scott, Marketing Officer, The Bowes Museum
